What Does a DSP Do in a Classroom Audio System?

A digital audio processor (DSP) is the control center of a modern sound reinforcement system. It takes audio from microphones and other sources, applies processing, and sends optimized sound to amplifiers and speakers.

Key functions include echo cancellation for hybrid video calls, feedback suppression to stop annoying squeals, automatic mixing to balance multiple microphones, and automatic gain control to keep volume consistent as speakers move.

Without a DSP, classrooms often suffer from uneven volume, echo on remote calls and feedback when microphones get too close to speakers. A properly configured DSP solves these issues and dramatically improves speech intelligibility.

GoFutura DSP units are rack-mountable and support analog, Dante/AES67 network audio and RS-232/485 control. They integrate seamlessly with our microphones, amplifiers and speakers for turnkey classroom AV solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this product and how it fits your project.

What is a DSP in audio?

DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor. It processes audio signals digitally to improve clarity, reduce noise and manage multiple sources.

Does it stop microphone feedback?

Yes. Built-in feedback suppression detects and removes feedback frequencies before they become audible.

How many inputs and outputs does it have?

Models vary from 8x8 to 16x16 or more. Contact us for the right channel count for your project.

Can it be controlled remotely?

Yes. Settings can be managed via PC software, network control and RS-232/485 integration.

Is it compatible with other brands of microphones and speakers?

Yes. Standard analog and Dante/AES67 connectivity allows integration with most professional AV equipment.
